EUR CoinVertible (EURCV) is a regulated euro stablecoin issued by Société Générale-FORGE (SG-FORGE), the digital-asset subsidiary of one of France’s largest banks. Each EURCV token represents one euro held off-chain in segregated bank accounts and is redeemable at par with the issuer. Launched on Ethereum in 2023, EURCV was the first euro stablecoin issued by a globally systemically important bank (G-SIB).
Unlike fintech-issued euro stables, EURCV sits inside the regulated banking perimeter. SG-FORGE holds an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license in France and operates EURCV under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation. The token is designed for institutional treasuries, regulated DeFi venues, and on-chain settlement of tokenised securities issued by Société Générale and its partners.
EURCV is engineered to trade at exactly one euro. The live price on this page comes from a multi-venue market feed and refreshes every 60 seconds. Small spreads versus the peg are normal arbitrage between euro-stablecoin venues. Wider deviations are rare and typically close within hours through SG-FORGE’s mint-and-redeem mechanism for whitelisted institutional clients.

EURCV is issued by Société Générale-FORGE (SG-FORGE), founded in 2018 as the digital-asset arm of Société Générale, one of the largest banks in the eurozone with over EUR 1.5 trillion in total assets. SG-FORGE has a unique profile in the stablecoin market because it is regulated as a credit institution-affiliated EMI, not as a fintech.

This banking heritage is the core differentiator. EURCV holders are exposed to the credit and operational profile of a regulated EU bank rather than a standalone fintech.
EURCV is fully backed one-to-one by euro cash held in segregated accounts at Société Générale and partner credit institutions. The structure is built to satisfy MiCA e-money token rules and to protect holders in the event of issuer insolvency.
Whitelisted institutional clients can mint EURCV by wiring euros to SG-FORGE and redeem at par. This direct-issuer arbitrage path is what keeps the secondary-market price tight to one euro.
MiCA, the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation, came into force for stablecoins in 2024. EURCV was designed from the start to fit MiCA’s e-money token framework, and SG-FORGE’s EMI license is exactly the type of authorisation MiCA requires for a euro stablecoin issuer.
EURCV competes most directly with EURC and Stasis EURS in the MiCA-compliant segment, while non-compliant euro stables face increasing restrictions on EU venues.
The three most established MiCA-compliant euro stablecoins serve overlapping but distinct user bases. The differences come down to issuer type, distribution, and target use case.
For EU institutional treasuries, EURCV’s bank-issuer model is often the deciding factor. For DeFi-heavy users, EURC offers wider venue distribution today.
EURCV is engineered as a settlement asset, not just a trading instrument. SG-FORGE has integrated EURCV with tokenised bond issuances, repo transactions, and on-chain delivery-versus-payment workflows for institutional counterparties.
These integrations differentiate EURCV from purely retail-oriented euro stables and tie its growth to the broader rollout of tokenised RWAs in Europe.
EURCV access is biased toward regulated and institutional venues, but retail-friendly options have grown alongside MiCA enforcement.
For long-term holdings, hardware wallets remain the safest option. For day-to-day euro liquidity, exchange-held balances or licensed-custodian accounts offer faster settlement against fiat ramps.
EURCV reduces some risks present in offshore stablecoins, but it is not riskless. The risk profile is closer to a regulated EU bank deposit token than to a typical crypto asset.
