EURC, originally launched as Euro Coin in June 2022, is a fully reserved euro stablecoin issued by Circle, the same US fintech that issues USDC. Each EURC token is designed to trade at one euro and is backed 1:1 by euro deposits at regulated euro-area banks plus short-term euro-denominated assets. The token serves as a digital euro for crypto markets, on-chain payments, and euro-denominated DeFi.
Circle markets EURC as the regulated euro counterpart to USDC. Reserves are attested monthly by BDO. The token circulates natively on Ethereum, Avalanche, Stellar, Solana, and Base, with Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) being rolled out for native bridging. EURC sits at the center of Circle’s European strategy under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation.
The EURC price targets one euro by design. Live data on this page is aggregated from a multi-venue market feed and refreshes every 60 seconds. Small deviations from the peg reflect normal arbitrage spreads between euro-stablecoin venues. Larger deviations are rare and typically resolve within hours through Circle’s mint-and-redeem mechanism.

EURC is fully backed by euro reserves disclosed monthly. The composition is conservative and held entirely within the euro area:

BDO acts as the independent attestor and publishes a monthly reserve report. Authorised institutional clients can mint and redeem EURC directly with Circle at one euro, and that arbitrage path is what keeps the secondary-market price tight to the peg.
In 2024 the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation came into effect. MiCA Phase 1 sets specific rules for e-money tokens, including reserve segregation, redemption rights at par, and ongoing supervision by national regulators. EURC is one of the few major euro stablecoins explicitly compliant with MiCA Phase 1 e-money requirements.
Combined with USDC’s own MiCA path, this positions Circle as a leading regulated stablecoin issuer in the EU, with EURC as the native-euro option for European users and treasuries.
EURC is issued natively on multiple blockchains. Native issuance means each EURC on a given chain is fully backed and redeemable, not bridged from another network.
Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) is being rolled out for EURC, allowing native cross-chain transfers by burning on the source chain and minting on the destination chain instead of using third-party bridges.
EURC, USDC, and USDT serve different needs. The differences matter for currency exposure, regulatory standing, and use case.
For European users, holding EURC instead of USDC removes a layer of currency conversion and aligns with local accounting and tax treatment.
Acquiring EURC is straightforward through licensed exchanges and Circle partners.
For storage, hardware wallets and reputable software wallets all support EURC on its main chains. Confirm the destination wallet supports the network you are sending on before withdrawing.
A Circle euro stablecoin is not riskless. EURC carries a mix of issuer, market, and policy risks that holders should weigh against the convenience of an on-chain euro.
