Chiliz (CHZ) is the native token of the Socios.com fan-engagement platform. Alexandre Dreyfus, who previously founded the gaming and entertainment group Mediarex, started the project in 2018 with a single bet: top-tier sports clubs would eventually want a way to monetize and engage their fan bases on-chain. That bet has held up better than most people expected. CHZ is the currency that holders use to acquire fan tokens, and it sits at the centre of an ecosystem that now spans football, F1, NBA, NFL, MMA, and more.
The token started life on the BNB Chain side of the world before the project launched its own infrastructure. CHZ supply is essentially fully diluted today: around 8.9 billion tokens are in circulation against a max of roughly 8.9 billion. There is no slow drip of inflation left to absorb. For the chain context, see our BNB page. For a longer-horizon CHZ outlook, see the Chiliz price forecast.
The CHZ price comes from supply and demand across spot exchanges. The most active pairs are CHZ/USDT, CHZ/USD, and CHZ/BTC. Live data on this page pulls from a multi-venue market feed and refreshes every 60 seconds. The reference quote is volume-weighted across the venues with the deepest order books. The all-time high near $0.86 came in March 2021, when the first wave of fan token launches hit the market.

Socios.com is the consumer-facing app where fan tokens actually live. The pitch to a club is simple: spin up a branded token, sell it to your global fan base, and use it as a permission system for low-stakes decisions and exclusive perks. The pitch to a fan is also simple: hold the token of your team, get a vote on minor club matters, unlock VIP rewards, and sometimes earn drops you cannot get anywhere else.
What fan tokens actually let holders do:
The catch worth being honest about: fan token prices are volatile, and the voting topics are deliberately kept light. If you expect the token to give you a real say over transfers, coaching decisions, or financial strategy, you will be disappointed. The product is closer to a paid loyalty programme with secondary-market liquidity than to corporate governance. That framing makes the experience easier to value.
Chiliz Chain mainnet went live in 2023 as a dedicated Layer 1 for fan tokens and sports/entertainment dApps. The original Chiliz infrastructure rode on BNB Chain, and the migration to a sovereign chain was the project’s biggest technical step in years. CC2 is EVM-compatible, so Solidity developers can deploy with minimal porting effort.
What that buys the ecosystem:
How decentralized CC2 actually is in practice is a fair question. The validator set is curated rather than fully open, and the project leans on its sports partners for legitimacy more than on a permissionless validator marketplace. For a fan token network that is probably the right trade-off, but it is worth knowing.
Chiliz has more named sports partnerships than any other crypto project. The fan token list spans more than 200 teams across multiple sports, and that breadth is the strongest argument for the long-term CHZ thesis.
A reasonable counter: how much of that partnership volume actually translates into sustained CHZ demand? The honest answer is that the relationship is lumpier than the headline list suggests. FTO launches drive spikes, big tournament weeks help, and sponsorship campaigns lift awareness, but the day-to-day on-chain activity is more modest than the marketing footprint implies. The breadth of the partnership book is real and useful; the conversion rate from sponsorship eyeballs to recurring token buyers is the open question.
CHZ tokenomics are unusually simple for a project this old. The supply is essentially fully diluted: roughly 8.9 billion tokens circulating against a max supply of about 8.9 billion. There is almost no inflation overhang to worry about, and no large unlocks left to absorb. That puts CHZ in a different bucket from most altcoins, where future emissions are a constant drag on price.
The Fan Token Offering (FTO) model is the demand engine:
There is also a buyback and burn programme that the team has run during stronger periods, where a portion of platform revenue is used to remove CHZ from supply. Burn cadence has varied over time, so this should be tracked rather than treated as a permanent floor.
CHZ is widely listed and easy to acquire. The decision worth thinking through is whether you want CHZ as a market position, or whether you want to actually use it inside Socios to participate in fan tokens.
CHZ has a risk profile that does not match most other layer-1 tokens. The dominant questions are about sports licensing, fan-token demand cycles, and how regulators will eventually classify these products. Volatility is real but it is not the most interesting line item.

Buying Chiliz (CHZ) is straightforward once you know which exchange to use and which trading pair offers the best liquidity. The steps below describe the typical flow used by most investors today.
You can also use the built-in Chiliz converter above to estimate exactly how much CHZ you would receive for a given amount in USD before placing an order.
Whether Chiliz is a good investment depends on your goals, time horizon, and tolerance for volatility. Like all cryptocurrencies, CHZ carries significant market risk — prices can rise or fall sharply in a single day, and past performance is not a reliable indicator of future returns.
