Creditcoin (CTC) is a layer-1 blockchain designed to record credit histories on-chain. The protocol was developed by Gluwa, a fintech company focused on emerging-market lending, and its mainnet launched in 2019. The core thesis is that billions of people in developing economies lack a verifiable credit history, which locks them out of formal lending. Creditcoin records loan originations, repayments, and defaults permanently on a public ledger, giving any lender a tamper-proof view of a borrower's track record.
The Creditcoin 2.0 upgrade, released in 2022, migrated the network to a substrate-based proof-of-stake architecture and introduced smart-contract functionality. The updated chain is compatible with the Polkadot ecosystem while remaining an independent L1.
CTC/USDT trades primarily on Binance, OKX, and Gate.io. The price refreshes every 60 seconds on this page.

The fundamental operation on Creditcoin is a loan deal. A lender and borrower agree on terms off-chain, then register the deal on Creditcoin by recording the loan address, amount, currency, maturity date, and interest rate. When the borrower repays, the repayment is marked on-chain. Defaults are recorded similarly. Over time, a wallet accumulates a public credit history that any other lender on the network can verify.

The original Creditcoin ran on a PBFT-like consensus with a limited smart-contract model. Creditcoin 2.0 rebuilt the chain on Parity's Substrate framework, the same technology used by Polkadot parachains, Kusama, and Moonbeam. The upgrade brought nominators-and-validators PoS consensus, EVM-compatible smart contracts via Frontier, and cross-chain message passing (XCMP) readiness.
CTC has an initial maximum supply of approximately 600 million coins. Staking rewards inflate supply at a variable annual rate determined by governance. Validators receive rewards for producing blocks; nominators receive a share proportional to their stake minus a validator commission.
A portion of transaction fees is burned, providing a deflationary offset to staking issuance. The net inflation rate depends on the validator count, total staked, and fee burn volume — parameters that can be adjusted through on-chain governance.
Creditcoin's go-to-market is centered on the Gluwa ecosystem. The Aella app operates consumer lending in Nigeria and Kenya and connects to Creditcoin for borrower credit history. For comparison with another chain targeting financial inclusion through a different mechanism, see our Stellar page.
