MegaETH is a real-time Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain designed to push EVM execution to its theoretical limits. Founded by Yilong Li and Lei Yang — both with Stanford and MIT backgrounds — the project launched its public testnet in early 2025 and quickly became one of the most-discussed chains in the Ethereum scaling debate. Its central claim is 100,000 transactions per second on a fully EVM-compatible runtime, which would place it far ahead of any deployed L2 as of mid-2025.
The native token is MEGA. It pays sequencer fees, participates in network governance, and will underpin the proof and re-staking mechanisms planned for the mainnet release. MegaETH raised a $20 million seed round backed by Dragonfly Capital, Figment Capital, and others, and received a public endorsement from Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, which meaningfully raised the project's profile among Ethereum developers.
MEGA trades on centralized and decentralized venues after the token generation event. The live price on this page is a volume-weighted average updated every 60 seconds. As an early-stage L2 token, MEGA price is sensitive to Ethereum developer sentiment, testnet milestone announcements, and broader L2 rotation flows.
Key price drivers to watch:

MegaETH achieves its throughput by separating the roles that a typical Ethereum node combines into one process. The architecture has three node types: sequencers, provers, and full nodes. Only the sequencer executes transactions in real time. Full nodes receive state diffs and verify them without re-running execution from scratch. Provers generate ZK proofs on a separate track. This role separation is what lets the sequencer run a stripped-down, highly optimized EVM without also shouldering the proof computation.

Three architectural choices drive the 100k TPS number:
The architecture inherits Ethereum security for final settlement but uses a centralized sequencer for liveness in the near term. Sequencer decentralization is on the MegaETH roadmap but not yet live.
The most common comparison for MegaETH is Solana, the existing throughput benchmark for production L1 blockchains. Solana sustains roughly 2,000 to 5,000 real TPS in production with theoretical peaks cited at 65,000. MegaETH claims 100,000 TPS in testnet benchmarks. The comparison matters because institutional and DeFi builders often frame the decision as "fast EVM vs Solana."
MegaETH's public testnet launched in March 2025 and attracted a large wave of early testers within the first week. The team reported over one million wallets interacting with testnet in the first month. Several DeFi protocols announced plans to deploy on MegaETH mainnet, including DEX aggregators and on-chain order-book exchanges that require the latency profile MegaETH targets.
Ecosystem highlights as of mid-2025:
The full MEGA tokenomics breakdown was not published as of the time of this writing. What is known: the token was introduced alongside the public testnet, initial supply was distributed via a TGE (token generation event), and the allocation covers team, investors, ecosystem grants, and a community reserve. Vesting details for the team and seed investors have not been fully disclosed publicly.
Points to track before sizing a MEGA position:
MEGA became available on centralized exchanges after its TGE. Availability varies by region; check current listings before attempting to buy.
For longer-term price scenarios, see our MegaETH price forecast.
MegaETH is an early-stage project. Its testnet performance is impressive, but there is a large gap between testnet benchmarks and a fully decentralized production network.

At the time of writing, MegaETH (MEGA) trades at $0.079324, with a 24-hour trading volume of $105M and a total market capitalization of $89.78M. The asset is currently ranked #316 among all tracked cryptocurrencies by market cap.
Over the last 24 hours, the MEGA price has dropped +1.21%. On the seven-day chart, MegaETH has retraced +14.22%, under sustained selling pressure in both timeframes. Short-term price swings are often amplified by liquidity conditions, news flow, and derivatives positioning, so traders should confirm signals across multiple indicators before acting.
MegaETH's all-time high of $0.2249 was set on April 30, 2026. The current market price is +64.67% below that historical peak. Distance from the all-time high is a common reference point when evaluating long-term recoveries and identifying macro support or resistance levels.
Buying MegaETH (MEGA) is straightforward once you know which exchange to use and which trading pair offers the best liquidity. The steps below describe the typical flow used by most investors today.

Whether MegaETH is a good investment depends on your goals, time horizon, and tolerance for volatility. Like all cryptocurrencies, MEGA carries significant market risk — prices can rise or fall sharply in a single day, and past performance is not a reliable indicator of future returns.
