Bonk (BONK) is the original Solana memecoin. The token launched on Christmas Day, December 25, 2022, with an airdrop that put roughly 50% of the supply directly into the hands of Solana NFT holders, validators, developers, and active users. The other half went to ecosystem development, liquidity, and community treasuries. Bonk arrived during the worst stretch of the post-FTX bear market, and its launch is widely credited with reigniting on-chain activity on Solana in early 2023.
BONK is an SPL token on Solana, the same standard used for stablecoins and most other Solana assets. There is no native chain, no separate blockchain, no proprietary rollup. The token rides the Solana network and inherits its low fees, sub-second confirmations, and occasional congestion events. By late 2024, Bonk sat alongside WIF and PEPE as one of the most-traded meme assets in crypto.
BONK trades on most major centralized exchanges and on every meaningful Solana DEX. Live data on this page is aggregated from a multi-venue market feed and refreshes every 60 seconds. The reference quote is a volume-weighted average of the venues with the deepest order books and on-chain pools. The most active pairs are BONK/USDT, BONK/USDC, and BONK/SOL.
What moves the BONK price on any given day:

The timing of the Bonk airdrop is the part most outsiders miss. Solana had just lost FTX and Alameda — its largest backers and biggest market makers — in November 2022. SOL was trading near $8, builders were leaving, and the network was being written off in most year-end reviews. The Bonk team dropped 50% of the supply on Solana wallets six weeks later, with no presale, no team allocation paper trail, and no roadmap beyond "we are the dog of Solana."
Three things that came out of the launch:
Bonk launched with an initial supply of 100 trillion tokens, allocated through the Christmas 2022 airdrop. The exact split: 50% to the Solana community (NFT holders, validators, devs, early users), and the rest divided across liquidity provisioning, exchange listings, marketing, the Bonk DAO, and team operations. There is no protocol-level inflation; the cap is fixed at 100 trillion.
Burn mechanics on Bonk are community-driven rather than algorithmic:
The supply scale is worth keeping in mind. Even after several billion BONK have been removed through burns, the circulating supply still sits in the tens of trillions. Per-token price moves are large in percentage terms but small in absolute cents. Round-number price targets like $0.01 BONK would imply a market cap larger than every public company on Earth combined.
BonkBot is the part of the Bonk ecosystem that surprised almost everyone. The team launched a Solana Telegram trading bot in 2023 that lets users buy and sell SPL tokens directly from a Telegram chat, with the bot handling wallet creation, signing, and routing. By 2024, BonkBot was one of the highest-revenue applications on Solana, often clearing more in weekly fees than mid-tier DeFi protocols on Ethereum.
Why the bot mattered for the token:
Bonk gets compared to Pepe and Shiba Inu constantly, because all three sit in the meme-coin top tier. The economics and ecosystems are very different.
Most allocation models treat BONK as the cleanest Solana memecoin exposure, PEPE as the highest-risk Ethereum bet, and SHIB as the middle option with utility. For longer-term price scenarios, see our Bonk price forecast.
Buying BONK is straightforward, but the right venue depends on whether you want self-custody on Solana, exchange custody on a major CEX, or wrapped exposure on Ethereum or BNB.
BONK risk concentrates in three areas that are specific to Solana memecoins, separate from the usual crypto volatility caveats.
This page is information, not financial advice. Solana memecoins concentrate volatility, narrative, and network risk in a way that is easy to underestimate.
At the time of writing, Bonk (BONK) trades at $0.000004, with a 24-hour trading volume of $41.45M and a total market capitalization of $320.62M. The asset is currently ranked #128 among all tracked cryptocurrencies by market cap.
Over the last 24 hours, the BONK price has dropped +3.72%. On the seven-day chart, Bonk has retraced +8.86%, under sustained selling pressure in both timeframes. Short-term price swings are often amplified by liquidity conditions, news flow, and derivatives positioning, so traders should confirm signals across multiple indicators before acting.
Bonk's all-time high of $0.000058 was set on November 20, 2024. The current market price is +93.75% below that historical peak. Distance from the all-time high is a common reference point when evaluating long-term recoveries and identifying macro support or resistance levels.
Buying Bonk (BONK) is straightforward once you know which exchange to use and which trading pair offers the best liquidity. The steps below describe the typical flow used by most investors today.

Whether Bonk is a good investment depends on your goals, time horizon, and tolerance for volatility. Like all cryptocurrencies, BONK carries significant market risk — prices can rise or fall sharply in a single day, and past performance is not a reliable indicator of future returns.
